• Kadwa - It is one of the most popular and elaborate crafts used to create Banarasi silk sarees. • Extra weft Cutwork - This technique is also commonly known as ‘Phekua’ and has an additional weft journey throughout the length of the saree. It appears only where the design demands while the rest of it hangs at the back of the fabric. Once the Banarasi saree is fully woven and comes out of the loom, the extra yarns are manually cut by the women of the house. The cutwork technique is more about big, bold patterns and intricate lines that are difficult to create.

• Meenakari - The meenakari technique is also very elaborate and lengthy. An additional coloured Resham thread is introduced in the weaving pattern. It adds different colours to the body of the Banarasi saree apart from the zari.

• Konia - It is an elaborate corner motif created above the pally on either side using the extra weft technique using gold, silver or silk thread. The patterns are created diagonally while weaving and thus require a more seasoned weaver’s finger.
